With a resident population of 9,300, the daily population grows to over 22,000 as commuters travel to their places of employment within the township. Home to the Great Valley Corporate Center, it also serves as the U.S headquarters to several national and international firms including Siemens Health Services (formerly SMS), Vishay, SCT, Centocor and Aegon as well numerous smaller businesses and retail shops.
The Township is part of the Great Valley School District that provides outstanding public education to the children of East Whiteland, Willistown, Charlestown townships and Malvern Borough. East Whiteland hosts the middle and senior schools as well as the K. D. Markley elementary school.
East Whiteland takes pride in its numerous recreational opportunities for residents of all ages. The Township boasts several neighborhood parks including Birch Road, Down East and Spring Mill Farms parks.
East Whiteland is completing work to define a vision for an extensive trail network that will inter-connect the entire Township. The Township building and many of the parks also are located adjacent to the Chester Valley Trail. This trail, currently undergoing improvements, serves as the center of an extensive county-wide trail network. Upon completion, the trail will provide bicycle access to Philadelphia and connect the Township with other trail systems near Downingtown. Source: http://www.eastwhiteland.org
